Course terms.
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you buy the Scale at Speed course from us. Together with the description of your tier (section 3), they are the contract between you and us. You accept them at checkout, before you pay. You can save or print this page.
“We” and “us” means Do Your Bit Limited. “You” means the business that buys the course and, where these terms deal with using the course, the person who holds the login. “The fee” means the total you paid for your tier, including any VAT.
We sell the course only to businesses, for use in their business. At checkout you confirm that you are buying for the purposes of your trade, business or profession, and not as a consumer. If you are in fact a consumer, the law gives you rights that no contract can take away, and nothing in these terms affects them.
2. Who we are
Scale at Speed is run by Do Your Bit Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 08130003.
- Registered office: Suite 2a, 7th Floor - Pf City Reach, 5 Greenwich View Place, London, England, E14 9NN
- VAT number: GB 234 5413 28
- Email: [email protected], the quickest way to reach us about anything to do with the course
The course runs on our course platform, Kajabi, at www.scaleatspeed.academy.
3. What you are buying
The course comes in three tiers. Each includes everything in the tier before it.
- Solo. The full self-paced course: six phases and twenty modules on video and in writing, the fifteen Growth Lab Team workshop packs, and the workbooks, tools and templates that come with them.
- Cohort. Solo, plus a six-week guided cohort run by senior consultants from the 2Y3X programme, with weekly group calls, peer review during the cohort and a private Slack community.
- Inner Circle. Cohort, in an Inner Circle cohort of up to twenty members, plus three things with Felix Velarde: (a) a one-to-one kick-off call of 45 minutes, for which we offer times within 14 days after you pay; (b) a 90-minute group call for your Inner Circle cohort once a month, six in all, starting in the third week, based on questions its members send in beforehand; and (c) a second one-to-one call of 45 minutes, which you book after the sixth week for a time before your cohort’s last monthly group call. As in the Cohort, the weekly group calls are led by a programme lead. Felix Velarde runs the calls in (a) to (c), and the Inner Circle includes no other one-to-one calls with him.
The Cohort and the Inner Circle run in intakes. Each intake starts on its Day 1, the day its six weeks begin. The tier’s page and the checkout show Day 1 and the day bookings close before you pay. Section 9 sets out how the groups, the calls and the Slack community work.
“The description of your tier” means what these pages said about your tier when you paid: scaleatspeed.com/the-course, www.scaleatspeed.academy/home, www.scaleatspeed.academy/cohort for the Cohort, www.scaleatspeed.academy/inner-circle for the Inner Circle, and the checkout page you paid on. What the description promises about your tier is part of this contract, including anything the list above does not mention. What it says about the price that other people will pay in future is not a promise to you. If the description and these terms say different things about the same point, these terms apply. We keep a dated copy of each of these pages every time it changes.
If the Cohort or Inner Circle intake you paid for is already full when your payment goes through, we will offer you a place on the next intake or a refund of the whole fee, whichever you choose.
4. How you buy
Choose your tier and open its checkout. Enter your details; you can check and correct them until you press the pay button. Before you pay, the checkout asks you to tick a box to confirm that you are buying for your business, not as a consumer, and that you accept these terms. Your access starts as soon as your payment goes through.
The Cohort and the Inner Circle are booked the same way, at their checkouts. Bookings for an intake stay open until the day before its Day 1, unless the intake is already full, and your place is yours once your payment goes through.
The contract is made when your payment goes through. We then email you a confirmation of your purchase, with a link to these terms. We keep a record of your order and of the version of these terms that applied, and we will send you both if you ask. The contract is in English. We do not subscribe to any code of conduct.
5. Price and payment
The price is the one shown on the checkout page when you pay, in pounds sterling or in US dollars. If your business is in the UK or the Isle of Man, buy at a checkout in pounds: our US dollar checkouts are for businesses elsewhere. Our prices do not include VAT or any other tax.
If your business is in the UK or the Isle of Man, we add VAT at the rate in force when you pay, now 20 per cent, and the checkout shows it before you pay. If your business is anywhere else, we do not add UK VAT, and you account for any tax due in your own country. If we have to charge any other tax, the checkout shows it before you pay. The total on the checkout page is the amount you pay, and there are no other charges.
Give us accurate details at checkout: your business’s name, a billing address that is the address of the business that is buying, and its VAT number or other tax ID if it has one. By buying, you confirm that you may buy for that business. If the person who will use the course is based in a different country from your business, tell us before you buy, because that can change the tax. We may ask for more information where we need it to charge the right tax.
You pay at the checkout, by card or by another method the checkout offers. Kajabi and its payment providers process the payment, and we never see your full card details.
We email you a receipt when you pay. If your business is in the UK or the Isle of Man, we also send you a VAT invoice within 30 days after the day you pay. We use the business name, address and VAT number you give at checkout; if the checkout did not ask for them, email them to us. If you need another kind of invoice, email us and we will send one.
You pay the whole fee in one payment at checkout. We do not offer instalments.
A later change to our prices does not affect a purchase you have already made.
6. Access and updates
When access starts. Access to the self-paced course starts as soon as your payment goes through. Your login details arrive by email, and you can start the orientation and Phase 0 the same day.
Lifetime access. Your access to the self-paced course has no fixed end date: it lasts for as long as we run the course. If we ever decide to close the course, we will email you at least 90 days before it closes, and give you a way to download, before it closes, the workbooks and templates that come with your tier.
Updates. We update the course from time to time. You get every update we publish in the 12 months after the day you buy. We may give you later updates as well, but we do not promise to.
Changes to the course. We may change the course to correct mistakes, to keep the material up to date, to reflect a change in the law, or because our course platform changes in a way we do not control. These changes will not reduce the main content of your tier (the phases, modules, workshop packs, tools, workbooks and templates described when you bought it) unless we cannot avoid it.
No refund if we change or close the course. Apart from the refunds in section 8, and the refunds in section 9 for live calls we do not run, we do not refund any part of the fee if we change the course, remove part of it or close it.
What you need. An internet connection and an up-to-date version of a common web browser, such as Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox, on a computer, tablet or phone. The videos play in the browser. The workbooks and templates are files you can download. Some workshop tools save what you type in the browser you are using, not in your course account, so download the PDF at the end of each session to keep a copy.
7. Using the course material
The course and everything in it, including the videos, the text, the workshop packs, the tools, the workbooks and the templates, belongs to us or to the people who have allowed us to use it. Buying the course gives your business permission to use it in your business, to apply the method the course teaches, and no other rights. It does not transfer ownership.
- What you may do. Watch and read the course and use its tools through your login, and save the PDFs the tools produce. Download the workbooks and templates, fill them in and use them in your business. Run the course’s workshop sessions with the people who work in or advise your business; you may show them the workshop packs on screen, but not give them copies. Give the documents you produce with the course, such as the GLT charter, job scorecards, standard operating procedures, the Board-Ready Pack and the exit-readiness baseline, to the people they are made for, such as your team, job candidates, your clients, your board, your investors, your lenders, your professional advisers or a buyer of your business.
- Limits for everyone you involve. The people who take part in your sessions or receive those documents, your advisers included, may use our material only for the purpose you gave it to them for, in connection with your business. They may copy those documents only as far as that purpose needs. They must not adapt our material or use it for anyone else, including their other clients, or in their own products or services. You must tell them about these limits, and you are responsible if they break them.
- What you write is yours. What you write in the workbooks, templates and tools is yours. The material around it stays ours.
- One login, one person. Each purchase includes one login, for one person, and it must not be shared.
- What you must not do. Apart from what the first point allows, you must not copy, change, share, publish or sell the course or any of its material, filled in or not, or use it to run workshops, training or consulting for anyone outside your business, unless we have agreed to that in writing. Giving anyone a copy of a workbook, template or tool output that contains our material is sharing it.
- When the permission ends. If we refund the whole fee, or if we end your access under section 9 or section 11, your permission to use the material ends and you must delete the material you downloaded. What you wrote stays yours. Documents you gave before then, as this section allows, to people outside your business may stay with them under the same limits; inside your business, the permission ends for everyone. If we close the course, you may keep using in your business the workbooks and templates you downloaded.
8. Refunds
Solo. If the course is not for you, ask for a refund within 14 days after the day you bought it and we will refund the whole fee. You do not have to give a reason. This applies to every Solo buyer, whether or not you have started the course.
Cohort and Inner Circle. We refund the whole fee if you ask within 14 days after the day you paid and at least 7 days before your kick-off. After that, we do not refund any part of the fee, including for calls you miss or do not take up, except as section 9 says for calls we do not run. For the Cohort, your kick-off is Day 1 of your intake, so the last day to ask is 7 days before Day 1. For the Inner Circle, your kick-off is your one-to-one kick-off call with Felix Velarde: if you book that call for a time less than 7 days ahead, the refund period has already ended when you book it.
Booking in the last 7 days. If you book the Cohort or the Inner Circle less than 7 days before Day 1, the checkout asks you to choose: a place in that intake, with no refund; or a place in the next intake, where the refund rule above applies as usual: within 14 days after the day you paid and, for the Cohort, at least 7 days before that intake’s Day 1, or, for the Inner Circle, at least 7 days before your kick-off call.
Moving to the next intake. If you tell us at least 7 days before your kick-off that you cannot take part in your intake, we will move your place to the next intake of your tier, once, at no charge. Moving does not start the refund period again.
If your group does not run. A group runs with three members or more. You choose your group’s call time at checkout, from the times the checkout offers. If fewer than three people have chosen your call time 7 days before Day 1, when the Cohort’s refund period ends, we will tell you within two working days after that, and you choose: a place in a group at another call time, if one runs, with the recording of every call, so that you can watch any call you cannot join; a place on the next intake; or a refund of the whole fee.
How refunds work. Ask by email to [email protected]. We refund to the payment method you used, in the currency you paid in, within 14 days after the day you ask, and we charge no fee for it. Any currency conversion by your bank or card provider is outside our control.
Moving up from Solo. If you bought Solo and then buy the Cohort or the Inner Circle within 14 days after the day you bought Solo, we refund what you paid for Solo once your payment for the new tier has gone through. If you bought Solo before the new tier went on sale, you have 14 days after the day it went on sale instead. Your access to the course carries on without a break, because your new tier includes it, so this refund does not end your permission to use the material under section 7. From then on, your new tier’s rules apply, its refund rules included. Email us to arrange it.
9. The Cohort and the Inner Circle
Groups. Cohort members meet in groups of up to twenty, and Inner Circle members in their own cohorts of up to twenty, each at the call time its members chose. A call time has at most one group of each tier, and an intake has up to four Cohort groups and up to four Inner Circle cohorts. When a call time is full, the checkout offers another time in its place. We form the Cohort groups and the Inner Circle cohorts 7 days before Day 1, when the Cohort’s refund period ends; if you book after that, you join the group at the call time you choose, and the checkout offers only the times whose group runs and has a free place. If more people book one call time than its group can take, we ask the members at that time whether any of them will move to another time; if not enough of them do, the last to book at that time choose between a place on the next intake and a refund of the whole fee. Before your group’s first call we tell you your group, its lead and your Slack channel.
Calls. Each group meets on Zoom once a week for six weeks, for 90 minutes, on the same day and at the same time. Inner Circle members also have a one-to-one kick-off call of 45 minutes with Felix Velarde, for which we offer times within 14 days after you pay. Each Inner Circle cohort has a 90-minute group call with him once a month, six in all, starting in the third week: at the cohort’s weekly call time, London time, never on the same day as a weekly call, on dates he sets before Day 1, and based on questions its members send in beforehand. Each Inner Circle member also has a second one-to-one call of 45 minutes with him, which you book after the sixth week for a time before your cohort’s last monthly group call. If you have not had it by then, it lapses, and we do not refund any part of the fee for it.
Recording. We record every call, the one-to-one calls included, so that the advice stays consistent from one call, and one consultant, to the next. We tell you before each call and again at its start. If you do not want a group call recorded, weekly or monthly, you cannot join it live, but we give you its recording. If you do not want one of your one-to-one calls recorded, tell us and we will not record it. We delete a group’s recordings 90 days after its last call, and an Inner Circle cohort’s recordings, its members’ one-to-one calls included, 90 days after its last monthly group call with Felix Velarde. Our privacy policy says who can see the recordings and their transcripts, and how long we keep the transcripts.
Catching up. If you fall behind, you may join the group calls and the channel of the next Cohort intake once, at no charge, if it has a free place. This does not add monthly group calls with Felix Velarde or another one-to-one call.
One person for each place. Each place is for one person. A colleague who wants to take part needs their own place.
The Slack community. We invite you to our private Slack community before Day 1. Your group’s channel stays open until 30 days after the end of week 6. You stay in the community for as long as we run the course, unless you leave it or we remove you under this section. Viktor, an AI assistant, manages the community for us and reads the messages in its channels; our privacy policy explains what it does with them.
Everyone in the calls and in Slack must:
- keep what other members say about their businesses confidential;
- treat everyone with respect;
- not record a call themselves;
- not name or identify their staff, clients or prospects: use roles or initials, and take names out of any work they share;
- not post health or other sensitive details about anyone.
If someone seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, we may remove them from the calls and from Slack, and end their access to the course. We will warn them first unless the breach is serious, and we will tell them why we are acting. We do not refund any part of the fee when we remove someone for breaking these rules, except under section 8 if they ask within its time limits. Breaking these rules leads only to the steps in this section.
If we cancel or move a call. If we move a call to another day or time, we tell you as early as we can, and you get its recording if you cannot join it. If we cancel a group call, we will run it at another time or give you a place on the matching call of the next intake of your tier. If we cancel a one-to-one call, we will offer you another time. If we cannot do either, we refund a share of the fee for each call we do not run: the fee for your tier, less the price of Solo on the day you bought (with VAT added to it if you paid VAT), divided by the number of live calls in your tier: 6 for the Cohort, and 14 for the Inner Circle (6 group calls with a programme lead, one a week; 6 group calls with Felix Velarde, one a month; and 2 one-to-one calls with him). A second one-to-one call that lapses under “Calls” is not a call we do not run. If we cancel or put back a whole intake, you choose between a place on the next intake and a refund of the whole fee.
The weekly group calls are led for us by senior consultants from the 2Y3X programme, who work for us as contractors. The Inner Circle’s one-to-one calls and monthly group calls are run by Felix Velarde. We remain responsible to you for both.
10. Results
The method has worked for its author and for many other founders. We cannot promise any particular result for your business, because results depend on your market, your team, how you apply the method and things outside anyone’s control. The course is education. It is not financial, legal, tax or investment advice; for those, speak to a qualified professional.
11. Suspending or ending your access
We may suspend or end your access if the login is shared, if the material is shared beyond what section 7 allows, or if you seriously break these terms in another way. The rules for the calls and Slack have their own steps, in section 9. We will tell you why we are acting. If the problem can be put right, we will give you a reasonable chance to do so first. If we end your access because you broke these terms, we do not refund any part of the fee, including for live calls still to come. The refunds in section 8 still apply if you ask within their time limits.
12. Our responsibility to you
What we never limit. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.
Our limits. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or anticipated savings, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you under or in connection with this contract, whether in contract, in tort (including negligence) or otherwise, is limited to the fee for your tier.
13. Personal data
We use the personal data of the person who buys and uses the course to provide the course, to take payment, to send receipts and what is needed for the course, and to keep the records the law requires. Kajabi hosts the course, and Stripe processes payments through Kajabi Payments. We record each purchase in our own records, kept in Zapier. If the buyer already receives our emails, or ticks the box at checkout to receive them, we also note in our mailing list, kept in Mailchimp, that they bought the course. If you buy the Cohort or the Inner Circle, we also use Slack for the community, Zoom for the calls, Fathom to record them and make their transcripts, and Calendly to book the Inner Circle’s one-to-one calls. Viktor, an AI assistant run by Zeta AI, Inc., manages the Slack community and reads its messages. The group leads see the details and the posts of the members of their group, and our course team can see every recording and transcript. Other AI services may summarise and analyse the transcripts for us; none of them may train AI models on them. We may also keep your details in our customer records, now in HubSpot. Our privacy policy explains the rest: what we collect, why, how long we keep it and the rights of the people it is about.
14. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a complaint, email [email protected] or write to us at our registered office (section 2). We aim to reply within two working days, and we will do our best to put things right. If we cannot resolve a complaint, we will give you our final answer in writing.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for future purchases. The version in force when you bought applies to your purchase. We will not change the terms of a purchase you have already made unless the law requires it, and if we have to, we will tell you. Each version is dated at the top of this page, and we will send you the version that applied to your purchase if you ask.
If you bought the course before this version came into force, you may rely on it wherever it gives you more than the terms that applied when you bought.
16. Other legal points
- Transfer. We may transfer this contract to another business, for example if the course is sold. We will tell you, and your rights under these terms will not be affected. You may transfer it to someone else only with our written agreement.
- Only you and we have rights under this contract. Nobody else can enforce it.
- If a court finds part of these terms unlawful, the rest stays in force.
- If we do not insist on something straight away, we can still insist on it later.
17. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and only the courts of England and Wales can hear a dispute about them.
